Texas Hold’em Tips

Texas Hold’em is one of the most popular forms of poker right now, and in order to help you learn a strategy for playing, we would like to offer you the following tips to help you to improve your game.

The first tip that we would like to offer is that if you have a high pair or a very strong hand before the flop, you should consider raising the bet. This offers two advantages for you. The first is that most players with weaker hands will fold, eliminating them as possible rivals in the hand. The second is that this tip adds a little to the pot to make the win better in the end.

The next thing that we advise is that you should not try to draw the low end of a straight. Let’s say that the Flop produces a 6 7 8, when this is the case, you should try to draw the 9 10 instead of hoping for the 4 5 or even the 5 9. Using this tip will help keep you from making a bad bet at a crucial time.

One of the most important things that you can do to help improve your game is to study the other players. The easiest time to do this is when you have already folded for a round, carefully watch the movements and mannerisms of the other players and try to pick up any of their “Tells”, notice when they fold and when they play, and try to figure out if they are easily bluffed or if they bluff often. This will prove very helpful in the long run.

We advise that you avoid playing any unconnected low or medium ranked cards. Don’t try to draw a straight or a flush with say a 2 and a 5, even if they are suited.

Keep the other players guessing. Let yourself get caught bluffing every once in a while in order to help keep your play as unpredictable as possible. This will make it harder to for the other players to track your movements and every now and then, you will catch the others off guard and win a pot off of a weaker hand.
Always be aware of flops that are either suited or consecutive, because they can easily turn into a winning hand for another player, watch how the others are playing their hands before you make a decision on whether or not to raise, call or fold.

Another suggestion is to keep an eye on the other players’ chips, if they are running dangerously low on chips, you have to always worry about an All In bet as their last ditch effort to stay in the game. Even though most of the time the players that use this strategy have weaker hands, there are times when Lady Luck is on their side and they got good hole cards at the right moment. Judge carefully.
The most important tip that there is to be given in any game is to HAVE FUN. Remember, it is a game and its meant to be enjoyed.
